Well here we have my grandmother at Thanksgiving. She is getting up there in age at 100 now but is still active even if she uses a walker. While she is capable of playing the part of a very sterotypical grandmother there have been a few surprises over the years. Like finding out about how her and my grandfather would go phesant hunting on their way home from work, or when I asked for advise on children.

I wasn't pleased with the lighting as everyone was on the side of the house that resulted in very backlit images so I had to play around with the shadows and highlights to get somethign a bit better. Also I only brought one lens which was my 77mm F/1.8 (the Pentax DA 77mm F/1.8 Limited) so that means that framing becomes harder as on has to zoom with their feed. I did crop some jus tto remove som in the background and get her placed a bit better in the frame but it was only a small amount.

After nearly 3 monrhs off from this class, due to caring for my Dad who died last month, I am finally able to be back. A bit rusty with the camera...found a wonderful place called Boyce Thompson Arboretum in Arizona with wonderfully brilliant foliage Not much editing...the colors sparkled on their own. This is Analogous on the color wheel...yellow, orange and green.

Ellensays:

My iphone updated to OS 16 and you can now put your finger on the subject of the photo and remove it from the background. But then what? That's what I wanted to know. So I took this photo of my family at Thanksgiving, and removed it from the background and if you hit 'share', you can save it, then I opened it in the Reflect app and it gave it a black background. In Photos, the bacground is just white. Then I added a milky way behind them, and squared up the photo and added a choppy water reflection. But my mother-in-law's head was really close to the top of the photo, so I put it in PHotoshop and added a layer that was just a bit larger and made the background a gradient from purple to black. So there they float, between the water and the stars, with their Thanksgiving dinner. Which Michael cooked -- it was delicious, thanks, Michael!

These are certainly two of my dearest beloveds. Hugo has been a rock and a joy this year. I can't say enough about his tender heart and sensative spirit. We were both devestated for the three days that Rosie was missing. Our home had a huge void while she was gone and the unbelieveable miracle of her return still has us saying prayers of thanksgiving.
