| Winter Wonderland Retreat | ||
|
Several times a year, Ricky offers a five-day, independent study retreat to small groups of ten students at the Tims Art Quilt Retreat Center in La Veta, CO. The retreat is designed to cultivate self-expression through the medium of quilt-making. Introspective morning talks and journaling and creative assignments are the foundations on which students pursue outward creative expression. The independent study format enables Ricky to guide each person toward their own personal goals for the week. Quilters of all experience levels are welcome to attend.
Our 2014 Winter Wonderland Retreat scheduled for January 13-18, 2014, still has openings! Imagine yourself in a sleepy little mountain town, surrounded by beautiful snow covered peaks, quiet streets, a warm cozy fire, a glass of wine in the evening and all day to pad around in your slippers and be as creative as you long to be! | International Quilt Convention - South Africa | ||

Imagine viewing lions, elephants, zebras and quilts all in the same trip! Ricky and Justin just returned from the International Quilt Convention in South Africa September 6-8 held at the Emperor's Palace in Johannesburg.
Mom with baby elephant, zebras, and weaver nests. Lions on the hunt. Wildlife in their natural habitat is simply amazing.
Ricky and Justin experienced two days at the Bakubung Lodge in the Pilanesburg National Park and enjoyed two photo safaris. Ricky was the keynote speaker during the event's Gala Dinner on Saturday evening and offered two days of Master Classes to our quilting friends in South Africa! Enthusiastic quilters also came from Namibia, Zambia, Botswana and other African countries to attended his class as well as students from Australia. The exhibition of quilts featured at the conference included quilts from The European Patchwork Meeting, SAQA, and the "Beneath the Southern Sky" exhibit from quilters of Australia and New Zealand. There were many more exhibitions of quilts on display and a vendor hall where Ricky failed to escape empty handed.
