A Day At Autumn Rock |
Every spring, Ricky and crew spend a day at Autumn Rock raising Big Bear, his 24' diameter tipi that stands 32' tall. It sits on a deck at Ricky's Autumn Rock ranch property. Ricky and Justin grab the local employees for a play day (that's really more work than play). The photo below shows an exhausted team just after the tipi was finally raised. There were more complications than usual so this year we are just glad to have it up for some summer fun. Many have asked: The designs on the tipi were created and painted by Ricky. Note the Bear, the Raven, and the Horse. The lower designs represent earth and the solid foundation of roots. There will eventually be a tree on each hill. These lower designs were painted by members of Ricky's family. Ricky Tims' staff successfully raised the tipi! May 9, 2013 (L to R) Vinny Gamibiana (shipping), Jeff Bilyeau (dyer), Ricky Tims (goof), Ellen White (dyer), and Justin Shults (the glue that holds RTI together) Good job gang! |
Georgia Peaches - In La Veta, Colorado? |
A participant from Ricky's recent retreat hailing from Georgia sent Ricky and Justin a Georgia peach tree (thanks, Linda). As you might know, Ricky does not have a green thumb. So, he enlisted Ernest, (husband of well-known crazy quilter, Judith Baker Montano), to help with the task. Jude and Ernest are master gardeners. Thanks to Earnest's green thumb, Ricky is confident that this tree will now survive - that is, if he can keep the deer at bay. Maybe someday Ricky will bake us a peach cobbler! Lucky tree! Look at the view it will have for the rest of it's life! |
Ricky's Heading West On Route 66 |
After over two years in the planning, it's almost here! Ricky is heading from Chicago, IL to Santa Monica, CA to enjoy towns along historic Route 66 with fun stops along the way. The bus tour with over 30 participants will feature original quilt blocks, stories, laughter, friendships and so much more! Stay tuned for more from the journey! Ricky with some of his Route 66 memorabilia!
