Creative people have one very important thing in common - they live to be creative! Creativity is, of course, not linked only to quilt-making, and many times creative people express their gifts in multiple ways - music, photography, painting, writing and so much more.

Ricky has begun to address the topic of creativity in general through a new website and blog, Ricky Tims Creative.com. Take a few minutes to check out his newest "creative" endeavor where he is sharing his insights on quilting, music, photography, and the creative process in general. You might be surprised and delighted by what you find here! The site is interactive, so if you would like to share one of Ricky's posts on your own FB page, Twitter, or Pinterest, use the icons on the left side of the website.

Ponnie Brinkman Scholarship

The Ponnie Brinkman Retreat Scholarship is an annual scholarship awarded to an individual who, as a novice quilter, excels in confidence, enthusiasm, originality and productivity. The scholarship enables the recipient the opportunity to attend a five-day La Veta Quilt Retreat.

The annual scholarship provides one recipient free retreat tuition and $500 toward expenses. Click here to locate the nomination form, review eligibility requirements, and learn about the nomination procedure. The deadline for nominations is November 1, 2014.

Lady of Shalott Begins September 1st

The Lady of Shalott is a three-month Block-of-the-Month quilt (BOM) which Ricky designed to share the technique of making one of his Rhapsody quilts in a manageable size fit for a newbie. These quilts look complex but they are easier than most people realize.

Ricky has created companion videos so you can actually see how he goes about making the various parts of the quilt. You can see the first video in his classroom at TheQuiltShow.com - or view it directly on YouTube. Even if you are not making the quilt, you will still learn a lot just by watching the video – and it’s free!

The video was created to accompany the kit or pattern. It’s not too late to join us on the project. If you are interested in getting the kit or the pattern, you can purchase it at the Ricky Tims Online Store. The instructions (via .pdf file) are emailed each month to participating quilters. By purchasing the kit or the pattern you are automatically enrolled in the BOM project. The instructions will be sent on the 1st of September, October, and November.

Let’s learn together. Don’t let this intimidate you. Ricky will be there to hold your hand each step of the way!
