That's right, I have a new sewing machine. Well, not new, but new to me. I am now the proud owner of an old Bernina 1230. This machine is known as a war horse and I've hoped to get one for years. However, this is not just any old 1230.
Recently Catherine Anthony, the mother of renown quilter Libby Lehamn, passed away. The machine that has come my way belonged to Catherine and I consider it a treasure. You can see her name fading on the lower right of the machine.
Do you have an older machine that you swear by? - and still use?
I too have a Bernina 1230 and would not trade it for anything. It does everything I ask of it. Altho I now have a Bernina 440 QE, I still do most of my sewing on the 1230 and keep the 440 set up for embroidery. I had a plumber working at my home one day and he came into my sewing room to ask me a question. He saw the 440 sewing across the room while I stitched on the 1230. He asked, "How did you make that machine sew by itself?" I replied, "I'm a witch." He seemed to accept that and asked no more questions. I had a super time at your Super Seminar in Bettendorf. Thanks for wonderful inspiration.
Ricky Tims is rolling out his new "Gaelic Blessing" quilt which features a variation on the Double Irish Chain pattern with a beautiful Celtic Cross done with minimal applique. This pseudo-traditional, easy-to-make quilt measures 63" x 63." Both the pattern and hand-dyed fabric kit are now available!.
Please take the poll below and help us determine how many patters and kits we should prepare, this does not obligate you in any way.
