Lisa says:

This little flower really cooperated this week. I noticed this sunflower bud early in the week and decided to try and capture it each day as it opened to demonstrate the passage of time. The bud next to it barely opened during the week, but this one did just what I needed. This morning, I looked out the window and it was greeting me in full bloom, Great way to start the day!

Week 20, Found Alphabet

Warren says:

Found alphabet is one of my least favorite challenges, but this has been an exceptional 'spring' at Springs Preserve. I opted for local flora and seasonal moments except for he exotic "V" of the paper kite (tropical butterfly) in the pavilion that will go on hiatus (after Memorial Day) until fall. I do "love" the opportunities at Springs Preserve to find unexpected beauty and wonder around us. The top image is an example of one of those moments along the trails. A local butterfly 'in the wild' visiting some local blossoms. It will only print decently up to 12x18, but this is the type of wonder that I 'love' to see, capture with the camera and share. We are remarkably blessed. Wishing you (and yours) an amazing week.

Imagine app. Prompt "Astronauts sitting around a campfire on Mars at sunset, roasting marshmallows." Theme Ultra Real V5, no style. Only one very large marshmallow visible, by the campfire. Despite several tries, I never could get a result with the astronauts actually holding marshmallows on sticks.

The biggest 'normal' sort of challenge we face on the mountain is succedding to get anything to grow. We've learned what genearlly works - iris - hostas - most coral bells - lambs ear. But none of them thrive and grow really big. The most agressive grower we have are bleeding heart. They make me super happy, and they come quickly in Spring.

Week 19, Initial Inspired

André says:

Absolute Grace became my initial Inspired topic. Chasing a sunrise that failed to captivate, I returned home with a sense of disappointment. However, on a whim, I decided to pull into a walking park surrounding a tranquil water resevoir. There, I observed mist gracefully rising from the cold water's surface. Suddenly the haunting call of loons echoed through the air. I waited with anticipation, and sure enough, the pair emerged right on cue exuding an aura of Absolute Grace.

The Boston House prospered. It's patrons included politicians, at least two governors of Colorado, and celebrities, including Wyatt Earp and Buffalo Bill Cody. It had a reputation for first-class food and liquor and the most attractive saloon girls in Colorado.

This photo and accompanying letter was found in the effects Father William Dannaher, Roman Catholic priest from Freeport New York, recently deceased. Also accompanying the letter was a certificate from the Colorado–Edison Electric Light Company certifying the Boston House as the first commercial establishment in Denver to be supplied with electric power.

Everett Hitch was played by yours truly and Henry Danaher by Stu Whalen. The photo was taken in Stu's TV room/library/music room. It took a lot of post processing including at least two Topaz filters.

How lucky that this was found a few years ago way back in the forest - and got hung in my garage. I was at a loss, looking for things like Red Toolbox and Radial Tires when I looked up and saw a Rusted License Tag (Ricky Lee Tims) Okay, maybe not everyone calls them tags - but we do.. This was overlayed with a photo of flowers from the garden center (waiting in the garage to be planted) to give a tad bit of color. Hopefully you wouldn't have noticed that as I meant it to be subtle. The left and right holes were stolen from the bottom, but in those spots are two gold screws holding it to the wall - and I thought they were out of place.

Week 18, Old Timey

The Boston House. Meet Henry Danaher, seated at piano, and Everett Hitch, standing with shotgun. These two gentlemen were the co-proprietors of the Boston House, a hotel, bar, restaurant, and a place for gentile companionship, circa 1880s.

Danaher was an interesting character. An Irish immigrant originally to New York City where through a combination of charm, deceit, and violence he managed to put together a small nest egg. Soon he immigrated (fled) to points west; Chicago, Abilene, and then through a series of cow towns finally ending up in Denver.

Somewhere along the line he partnered up with Hitch. Everett Hitch was a West Pointer, soldier, a bounty hunter and an itinerant lawman. The two proved to be a winning combination. Danaher took care of the business side of things while Hitch managed security and kept upstart competition in check.

The Boston House prospered. It's patrons included politicians, at least two governors of Colorado, and celebrities, including Wyatt Earp and Buffalo Bill Cody. It had a reputation for first class food and liquor and the most attractive saloon girls in Colorado.

I wish I could say this is a family heirloom. I owned a spittoon that my Granny had (it was only a novelty, not used by her), but I kept it in the little cabin that burned in 2018. The original is charred from fire, but I still have it. This one was bought at an antique store as a replacement and a reminder of my childhood days. I essentially created a sort of selective color image leaving the spittoon and leaves with a bit of color.

This was created by Bing AI with the verbal prompt-primitive, couple tired and weary, traveling with spears and animal furs. The woman is very pregnant panoramic view, vivid colors, highly detailed death of field snow, covered background, studio studio lighting, then edited it to bring the colors down to look more cold and dreary. In all the photos generated for some reason when I put pregnant -they had to show the belly without covering. I also thought it was interesting that they made her barefoot and pregnant. Not sure if they had feathered arrows in Ice Age and. It looks like a traveling bag made out of deer skin nearby.
