Seasons Greetings!
To my quilt friends: ‘Tis
the season for remembrance and reflection.
Words
can not express my gratitude for the amazing support and encouragement
that many of you have given
me this year. I hope that you have enjoyed sharing my hopes and dreams. This
year brought two firsts for me - a new line of fabric released in the spring and
my book on convergence quilts released this fall. In addition,
it has been like a dream watching the changes at Autumn Rock - a new
road and the Bertie Marie cabin.
Throughout
the year, your cards, letters, and emails encouraged me even when the
travel and teaching seemed overwhelming. My reward came when I heard how excited you
were about your own quilting, evidenced by the photos of the quilts that you
sent to me.
Since
I can¹t send each of you a card for the holidays, I have prepared one on the
web that I hope you will enjoy. The sentiment says, “May the lightson
a snowy eve cast a glow of faith, hope and love to you and yours.”
Click here to see the photo.
Thank
you for being such an important part of my quilt family.

Travels:
Lancaster,
California; Hemet, California
To
end 2003, Ricky will be traveling to Lancaster, California where he will visit
the Antelope Valley Quilt Guild on December 11-13, followed by the Hemet
Valley Quilters of Hemet, California on December 15-16.
If you’re in the area, drop by and say hi.
October and November has come and gone and
what a whirlwind they were too. Ricky
visited the following guilds and venues:
October – Virginia Quilters Unlimited of Fairfax, VA; Ohio
Valley Quilt Guild of Cincinnati, OH; Chagrin Valley Quilt Guild of
Chagrin Falls, OH; Ricky’s
on Rocky
Mountain Quilt Retreat in Colorado Springs, CO; and finally, International
Quilt Market in Houston, TX.
November – International Quilt Festival in Houston, TX; Pauline’s
Place in North Prairie, WI; Darting Needles Quil Guild of Appleton,
WI; Rock Valley Quilt Guild of Janesville, WI; and finally, Saginaw
Piecemakers of Saginaw, MI. Ricky
would like to extend his many thanks for all those involved to help make these
trips so enjoyable and fun!
Convergence
Quilts:
Ricky’s
new book
Well, after nearly a year, Ricky’s first book, Convergence Quilts, has
finally hit the market. Ricky
is very pleased with it of course, and with the feedback he’s received, it is no
small wonder C&T is having difficulty keeping-up with orders.
For
those interested and having difficulty obtaining their copy, the Tims
Internet Store has autographed copies just
in time for the Holidays.
Bernina
Presents :
Ricky Tims Quilt Seminar
Some of you know that Ricky has
been planning a new quilt seminar format that utilizes an on-stage, demo-style
format. Now it is official!
Bernina of America will be the national advertising sponsor for the new Ricky
Tims’ Quilt Seminars (RTQS). There
are three events scheduled for 2004. These two-day seminars will enable Ricky to
share more information, more secrets
and
more techniques than has ever been possible in his regular sit-and-sew classes.
The class size will be limited only by the seating capacity of the
auditorium and the only thing on
the supply list is enthusiasm. In
addition, an exhibition of Ricky’s quilts will be on display during the
seminar and he will present a piano concert on the first evening of the
seminar.
Unlike
typical bookings, instead of your organization paying to host Ricky, the Ricky
Tims’ Quilt Seminar pays your organization for hosting the event! Hosting
organizations must be willing to provide volunteers for the event and
promote the seminar to other guilds in a 150-200 mile radius of their
town.
Only authorized members of your organization should make requests for
a
2005 seminar. The requests
for 2005 dates, should be made as soon as possible.
Detailed information pertaining to specifics of the seminars is available
that outlines the details of the event. Organizations that are interested in hosting a seminar should email rtqs@rickytims.com
and Pat can help answer any
questions you might have. You can
see an overview by clicking on the following link:
RTQS overview.
RTQS

August

Leaving
Denver : TAQS
moving to LaVeta, Colorado
By now, most of you are aware of Ricky and Justin’s dream to build a
Quilter’s Retreat at Autumn Rock in south central Colorado.
Well, the architects, The
Keating Partnership, have delivered the first pass of the house plans
and the guys are completely “blown away”. Karen
Keating and Paul Deardorff of TKP, have taken Ricky’s and Justin’s ideas and
have captured the “vision” and continue to work toward that goal.
For
Ricky and Justin, living and working in the Denver area, 3-1/2 hours
away from Autumn Rock, is not just inconvenient, but the pull to
be nearer their property is simply too strong to resist. So,
the guys have placed an offer on a house in LaVeta,
Colorado, population 924 - salute , and hope to move in
the near future.
Once
everything is finalized, the new addresses, both physical and email,
and the phone numbers will be posted on the website and then again,
in the next newsletter.
Lucky
:
Wondering about the goldfish?
Many of you have written in response to Ricky’s short story, Lucky
for Me. Ricky would like to extend his thanks to all of those who took
time to respond and apologizes for not being able to reply back.
His schedule has just not allowed it.
So, what about
Lucky? Has he taken to his new
environment? Well, you tell us.
Click on the following link and see for yourself if he looks happy.
Lucky. What about his brothers and
sisters? As for as his brothers
and sisters… Well, it’s
probably best to say a small prayer for them.
You see, as of about 6 weeks ago, the bear pond where they reside had
frozen solid!
