 Travels:  Redding, CA; Des Moines, IA
Here is Ricky’s travel schedule for July 2003.  If you will be in and around one of these venues, stop by see him.  For July 18-20, Ricky will be in Redding, California for the Sew-ciety of Redding.  Leaving California, Ricky will then head to Des Moines, Iowa for the Des Moines Area Quilt Guild. 

June’s epic travel schedule has finally concluded.  Ricky would like to extend his heartiest thanks to  all those who helped to make such a beefy travel month so enjoyable.  All those with the Siouxland Sample QG in Sioux City, IA; the New Jersey Quilt Convention, McCall’s Quilting in Golden, CO; all the guilds and shops in Albuquerque, Santa Fe, and Los Alamos, NM; and Peoria, IL, Ricky says “Thank you!”.   

Quilt Awards:  Bohemian Rhapsody & New World Symphony
Both of these quilts were entered into the Rockome Gardens Quilt Show in June.
 Bohemian Rhapsody won BEST of SHOW and New World Symphony took third in Hand & Machine-quilted Professional Pieced/Applique/Mixed Techniques.  Ricky feels very honored that both of these quilts continue to show well.  

DVD's & VHS: Lesson 2 – Quilting Techniques
Video number two is now in production.  This second in a series of instructional/entertaining videos will be on free motion quilting, trapunto, piped/shell bindings and much more.  As of this writing, a title has not been decided upon, but rest assured, it too will have a fun and inviting title as well. 

Quilting Caveman Style and Fishin’, the first in the series, continues to be popular with quilters and their spouses.  Tims Art Quilt Studio continue to receive rave reviews on the video and many of those props come from the spouses of the quilters who come into the room wondering what their quilting spouse is laughing about.  Number two is sure to follow to suit. 

For those of you in the UK who have felt left out – GOOD NEWS!  The DVD will play in your DVD Players, both for your television and your computers.  These DVD’s are not Region Specific and have been tested, (The VHS is not PAL and is not compatible with UK players).  You can get your DVD by clicking the following – DVD..

Convergence Quilts : Harmonic Convergence Book
Ricky’s new book, Convergence Quilts, is still due this fall.  The final edits have been completed and the book looks marvelous.  Lots of color, lots of humor, and lots of samples. 

Simply Quilts : Ricky’s episode
This is just a reminder that Ricky’s episode of  “Simply Quilts”, will air sometime this fall. The exact date is still not known, but look for episode #910 on: http://www.hgtv.com/hgtv/shows.qlt .  The episode filmed is on Quilting Caveman Style  and it ends with Ricky at the piano.

Autumn Rock : “Baaaaah Rammmmmm Eweeeeeeeee!”
On the way to New Mexico this past month, Ricky and Justin stopped by Autumn Rock to check on the progress of the roads and driveway.  What to their surprise, but on the parcel next to Autumn Rock, was a herd of Bighorn Sheep, lazing in the afternoon sun.   But if that wasn’t enough wildlife,  3 mule deer warily watched the two as they watched the Bighorn.   

A week after returning from New Mexico, the guys received a phone call from the developer of the property with further good news about animal  sightings.  While on the property, Brett witnessed a cinnamon- colored mother black bear and her cinnamon- colored yearling cub pass through the  Autumn Rock property.  Needless to say, Ricky and Justin are excited about the possibilities of all the wildlife inhabiting the area.
