Alert!
Alert! Alert!
Alert! Alert!
Alert!
Stop the Rumors! The horrible act of throwing bleach
on a quilt was NOT done
by my good friends Stuart and Kim Schake, owners of KenQuilt in
Wichita, Kansas. It was a horrible act allegedly committed by
Dan Pucket
with Design-a-Quilt, from Paducah, KY. Both companies sell short
arm
quilting machines. The incident has been a topic of many quilters
over this
past month, and now rumors are flying - bad rumors! It has been
reported
that I attributed the act to Stuart Schake of KenQuilt. This is not true!!
I have heard that the alleged culprit was Dan Puckett, owner of a company
called Design-a-Quilt. It is sad to say, but people don't always
pay
attention to details and thus, rumors are born.
I confess to discussing the topic and have used the name "Dan
Puckett",
"Design-a-Quilt" and "short arm quilting machines" in the
same conversation.
Never in any of those conversations did I mention KenQuilt, Stuart or his
wife, Kim. The owners of KenQuilts are a terrific couple and
are enjoying
their new venture in the quitling world. They are kind, gracious
and have
phenomenal integrity - meet them and you will love them.
YOU CAN HELP! If you are on any quilting Internet newsgroups, would you
please get the word out there that Stuart at KenQuilt was NOT the culprit.
If you hear such a rumor would you please set the record straight!!!
Thanks,
Ricky
Travels:
Ann
Arbor, MI, Toledo, OH & Nassau
Bay, TX
Whew!!!!
October is finally over and what a month October was.
The month started for Ricky with a trip back to his home town of Wichita
Falls, Texas where he taught
a workshop and gave a performance of “Celebrate the Century” in front
of a hometown audience. In
attendance at the performance was of course Ricky’s family but also his
6th grade
Art teacher Mrs. Mary Jo Hagerman, now a quilter who also attended the workshop.
Didn’t Mrs. Hagerman do a great job getting Ricky off on the right
foot? At least that was
what she was telling everybody…in jest.
Following Wichita Falls, Ricky traveled to Arlington, Texas followed
by Ricky’s Rocky Mountain Quilt Retreat held at Glen Eyrie in Colorado
Springs, Colorado. After completing the
Retreat, a mere 4 days later found Ricky in Houston, Texas for the Fall 2002 IQA
Market and Festival.
This
month Ricky will travel to Ann Arbor, MI to the Greater Ann Arbor Quilt Guild
and to the Gathering of Quilters meeting in
Toledo, Ohio. In December,
Ricky will travel to Nassau Bay, TX to the Lakeview Quilt Guild.
If you are in the surrounding areas and are interested in seeing
one of Ricky’s presentations or taking a workshop, call one of these
guilds for information.

consumers alike could see Ricky Quilting like a Caveman, and of course, fishing!
Many shop owners at Market and quilters at Festival pre-ordered Ricky’s
new instructional videos eagerly waiting the release at the beginning of
the year. Once we receive the videos from the manufacturer, they of
course will be available at the Internet Store.

but who knew he would sell “Songe

Beat Goes On”. Yes,
that’s right, his “children” have flown the coop.
“Songe…” is now owned by Quilts, Inc in Houston, Texas and both
“Beat…” and “Passage” now reside in private collections.
Although he will no longer have them to show when traveling, they may
still be seen on Ricky’s website. In

are available in Limited Edition Gicle’e
prints which are also available on the website.
Happy
Holidays:
Last newsletter of the year.
This
will be the last newsletter until January 2003. Ricky and the rest of Tims Art Quilt Studio would like to
wish each of you and your families early Happy Holidays. 2002
has been quite a remarkable year and we all look forward to 2003 and what
the New Year Holds.
With
apologies, we’re very sorry for the lateness of this newsletter.
There was simply too much going on over the past 5 weeks to get this out
in a timely manner. We hope you understand and would like to thank all of those
who inquired as to what was going
on and why a newsletter was not sent.
Well,
I guess that's about it. Till next month, Ricky says “ stay warm
and happy quilting and keep an eye on your email around the 1st of the
year. If any extraordinary news
arises in the meantime, we will
send-out a brief notice.
Again,
Happy
“early” Holidays!
